Defending Champion – Kevin O’Connor Confirmed To Race Close to $ 3,000.00 in Prize Money Offered The 5th Annual - Whistler Spirit Run, set for September 22ndat Whistler Olympic Park is pleased to announce that SierraSil has agreed to renew their sponsorship agreement for the 2012 event. For the 2nd year in a row, SierraSil will be awarding the prize money to both the “Open and Masters” category (40+) race in the following increments for both top female and male athletes. 1stPrize - $ 400.00 / 2ndPrize - $200.00 / 3rdPrize - $75.00 The Whistler Spirit Run, part of the Vancouver Sun Run Series and Lower Mainland Cross Country Series, is a Cross Country and Trail running event featuring something for everyone at Whistler Olympic Park. It is the realization of the late coach Frank Reynolds’ vision to have a mass participation cross country event while encouraging and supporting British Columbia high school and University athletes through charitable donations and scholarship programs. “We want to encourage people to be healthy and active, and although we know the rewards of a healthy lifestyle are reason enough to exercise, a little prize money gives that little extra incentive. Since its inception 5 years ago, The Whistler Spirit Run has attracted people of all ages and built strong relationships. This year’s version will consist of cross country events of various distances for school and club teams, a fun 4x2KM team relay and individual competitive races where substantial prize money will be offered.
